“Artist Tips From the Trenches” – Great-White Fkc

I reached out to Great-White Fkc and said I’d like to hear any tips from someone who’s been doing it for a while. Below, is his unedited response.
advice couple things to start.. dont rush music I NEVER DO THAT.. so that means don’t be like everyone else specially when it comes to beats it smore worth taking way longer making one really STRONG track that stands out/one of a kind.. and beat picking don’t just ever grab any beat i kno at times u can be very exited to get in there n record your shit but even if you have to work on your beat or get someone who does that to help you perfect that shit to the fullest first and be sure before you do it all its just how you want it
…. and far as your actual spitting you will notice if u never give up how over time you see in yourself how u change/evolve with it and get better it will come long as the heart/tru passion is there and enough time put into the lyrics.. let the words come to you too and stand out and find your patterns and what is most comfortable to u as your own individual and experimentation is always good of course too.. don’t just rely on one same old same old.. really always feel the beat and gotta be patient too at times sometimes one big thing is delays and riding the beat sometimes rappers will get into the next line too soon and making the flow not as good as it could be that’s one thing with me i noticed and i corrected after awhile.. hmm what else.. hope that’s good to start for you maybe some that u already kno… just i could tell u really appreciate our music and are prolly an actual valued new fan so i took the time for u wouldn’t be able to obv do that for every single person tho lol .. gtg
myself i think fluctuation is always the best way to go and what represents true mc’ing and speeds in a song not the same flow all the way thru.. like up and down or even all over the place at times or like a build up
and if it really starts getting so easy for ya than you will be able to focus in addition all in the same time on not being monotonous and gotta have that character / soul man
voice changes
and emotion depending on what the lyrics are saying and story there painting to the listener
i wasn’t as good with all that in the earlier times and than i started to realize that after few years i can tell you to be honest tho all in all self taught to me anyways is the best
just like with anything
but of course any opps u can get to surround yourself by some real bosses and pros do it.
